2006 - Starts First Company
2016 - Moving West
CEO Mike Murphy exits the first company he founded in Arizona and moves further West to California.
2018 - Founded NEI
National Energy Installers is founded in Southern California, beginning as a residential solar installer serving homeowners across the state. Our journey and our history begin.
2019 - Building a Foundation
The team completes more than 5,000 residential solar installations in the first years of business, building deep hands-on experience in system design, permitting, and installation quality.
2020 - Shift Toward Commercial
As demand grows for larger, more complex energy systems, NEI shifts its focus toward commercial and industrial clients, applying the same installation discipline at a larger scale.
2023 - Full C&I Transition
NEI completes its transition to a commercial and industrial energy infrastructure company, expanding beyond solar into battery storage, microgrids, EV charging, natural gas generation, and power distribution. For the first time in our history, we are C&I exclusively-focused.
2026 - Over 350+ MW Installed
